No.1 Duke Street, Richmond.

Last weekend I made the short journey to Richmond to visit the latest restaurant from Darwin & Wallace, No. 1 Duke Street. My sister and I were treated to lunch and cocktails as an early Christmas treat, the perfect excuse to escape all of the Christmas shoppers. Tucked away from the main road, the restaurant has a pretty insta-worthy front garden, filled with cute décor and garden lights. Once we’d stepped inside we found ourselves a table and had a good look at the menu. One of the things I love the most about Darwin and Wallace is the interior design, it’s just so beautiful and adds to the luxurious feel of the menu. We picked the olive and sun-dried tomato tapenade to start, followed by two halloumi and courgette burgers (with chips of course)! Both were filling, delicious and I have to mention that the burger comes in a sweet brioche bun and the halloumi is also breaded, Best-thing-ever! I do wish there were a few more vegetarian options on the menu as we didn't have too much to choice from, however what they did offer was absolutely lovely! To finish we chose the luxurious and rich dark chocolate mousse, covered with hazelnuts and drizzled with salted caramel. For drinks, I slurped my way through an elderflower and earl grey fizz, I could have quite happily sipped my way through the menu. The Passionfruit Caprinha and pineapple sage mojito sound amazing, and for those of you who don’t drink, they also offer house lemonade made with homemade lemon sherbet in a variety of flavours! Perfect for the little ones. I also hear they do an amazing brunch so I may have to make a little visit again soon…
