Kalimera! Last week my boyfriend travelled to Crete for our summer holiday and we had the most amazing time. I'm not totally sure what I was expecting from the island but every day I was more and more surprised by how amazing it was! We wanted to have a really relaxing holiday away from work, London and just escape for a little while as the weeks leading up to it had been pretty hectic for us both. We stayed in the area of Analipsi but we also visited Heraklion, Chania and Rethymon which were also lovely. My favourite out of them all was probably Chania as it was on the sea front and had a good vibe from the old and new towns. Plus there were loads of places to pick up typical tourist goodies, and visit the local shops too. However, Heraklion did have a Sephora, which was VERY exciting!
We stayed at Insula Alba Resort, which we loved and would happily stay there again. It had a really yummy breakfast buffet, great service from the hotel staff plus and a beautiful pool area (see in the photos below). On the first night we were welcomed with shots of the traditional Cretan spirit of Raki, which was pretty lethal as well as some sweet sesame and peanut treats. Plus the hotel was right on the beachfront so we were treated to a stunning sunset each night. The hotel is only 25 minutes away from Heraklion by cab, so if you fancy a day out to the capital, it's easily accessible!
Greece is high on my list of countries to visit, your photos make me want to go there straight away! The hotel sounds really nice and the proximity to the town is great. I'd love to see Heraklion. Landscapes in Greece are so unique, and it definitely shows in your photo diary!
